If the Bronco has a known weak spot, it’s the steering system. Factory tie rods on many models can fail with surprising ease. Upgrading to heavy-duty tie rods is a smart first step—right up until the tie rod becomes stronger than the steering rack itself. At that point, the rack housing and internal shaft see increased load and deflection that can lead to damage. 

The TeraFlex Bronco Steering Rack Support Bushing Kit is a simple, affordable, and highly effective solution for protecting the steering rack when heavy-duty tie rods are installed.  

Our Bronze Oil-Lite bushing supports the rack shaft to reduce load deflection, helping prevent rack gear damage under large tires, added steering load, and off-road use. 

TeraFlex includes this bushing kit with all our Heavy-Duty Wear-Adjustable Bronco Tie Rods, but owners running another brand of after-market tie rod that did not include a rack-support upgrade bushing—can now add this critical protection as a stand-alone kit. 

The kit includes a bronze composite Oil-Lite bushing, a steering-rack boot clamp, and a snap ring to secure the bushing in place. “Oil-Lite” refers to a self-lubricating process where oil is impregnated into a porous bronze bushing, providing maintenance-free lubrication and support. 

Most 2023 and earlier Broncos commonly require the support bushing. Some newer models may also need it, though factory inclusion varies by build. 

Note: HOSS 3.0 racks do not require this upgrade.
